My iron has a lot of dark brown stuff stuck to the bottom of it. It still works great, but it definitely needs to be cleaned. Does anyone know what to do to clean this off? And how to keep it clean?? Thank you!!!!

Let your iron heat up to the hottest setting, get a thick light colored towl... fold so you don't get burned.. Dampen the towel and wipe the surface plate... The gunk should come off...

They actually sell an iron cleaner gel at the fabric store. Just follow the instructions and you will be all set.

Stretch a damp course cloth across your ironing board, and rub the iron over it. this should remove the stains,
