when you say "access" to his computer do you mean his admin account or just your limited account ?

Beacause if you dont have admin priveleges...then you probably cant do anything.

And be careful if your dad is a tech guy he might have a keystroke logger that will see what your doing.

hope that helps

Without the WEP/WPA/Whateva key, you're pretty much out of luck. There of course is software/hardware to sniff out those keys... but you would have to download them of course hehe.

Now if you were able to get on a computer that does have access, then you could locate the wireless connection, right click on it and select Status. This would allow you to find the IP range and more importantly the Default Gateway.
If you put the Default Gateway into your browser it may give you a password prompt... then it's just a matter of finding out what the password is.... it's highly unlikely that your father went to all that trouble without changing the default username/password.

And of course the other problem with that... is DLink likes to muck up the router navigation by making it something more complicated than the DG IP address.

Defaults for D-Link tend to hover around admin/(blank password) or admin/password.

Don't EVER reset the router, you'll just be in worse shape than before.

Wait a minute... you're on the internet now... hehe

There is no icon, its a link tha is given with the D-Link router. You would also need the password to login and removed the lock. Without that theres nothing you can do but reset the router - that is only if its wireless!

If you are not the system administrator, then there isn't much that you can do.
