the place you reside determines the respond on your question. I stay in N. California on the coast the place the seasons are mild. now is an incredible time to think of on the subject of the fall and iciness backyard. My iciness backyard beats out my summer season backyard. My tomatoes are in basic terms commencing up to ripen, as are my beans, yet i'm already looking forward to the arriving seasons. The cruciferous vegies are super options right here--broccoli, kale, cauliflower, brussel sprouts. Chard, mustard vegetables additionally paintings properly. Letuce could be grown all 12 months around. i will nonetheless plant zucchini, and characteristic some starts i'm very almost to place into the floor for fall harvest. sure, fortunate me, I stay in a gardener's paradise.

Oh dear... Nurseries may very well be all out of seedlings by now, and it is kind of late for you to start anything from seed.
But try garlic! You can plant softneck for a late fall harvest. Not a promising one, but... a harvest at that. Or even some early potatoes, for a fall harvest.
You can always use some herbs, can't you? Oregano, basil for pesto, etc.

Well, it's a little late but corn and okra could still be planted and have time to grow before the end of fall.
If you can wait another month, you could still plant green beans...just be sure to give them water on hot days.
