It is not a question of "who believes" it is a fact that imprisioned lobbyist and disgraced former GOP House Majority leader Tom Delay conspired to commit and enabled crimes against persons, human decency and the labor laws of the USA in the Marianas Island and American Somoa.

The quote below was pasted from Congressman George Miller (D-California, 7th Congressional District)
2007 official congressional website.

“Let’s remember what they paid for: a protection racket that sheltered a sweatshop industry that systematically exploited tens of thousands of impoverished foreign workers -- mostly Asian women -- who were little better than indentured servants; a sweatshop industry that earned some of the heaviest fines in U.S. history for violating labor laws; an industry repeatedly cited by the Departments of Justice, Interior and other federal agencies. They were defending a corrupt immigration system that regularly approved visas for non-existent jobs, resulting in hundreds of women being forced into the sex trade, including prostitution".

Further CNN reported the following once the investigation into Delay and Abramoff's trip to the Marianas took place in 2004.

"Moved by the sworn testimony of U.S. officials and human-rights advocates that the 91 percent of the workforce who were immigrants -- from China, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh -- were being paid barely half the U.S. minimum hourly wage and were forced to live behind barbed wire in squalid shacks minus plumbing, work 12 hours a day, often seven days a week, without any of the legal protections U.S. workers are guaranteed, Murkowski wrote a bill to extend the protection of U.S. labor and minimum-wage laws to the workers in the U.S. territory of the Northern Marianas."

Just another example of the contempt the GOP holds for humanity, motivated by greed and profit. Not to mention the hypocracy that is behind their so called family values. Family values that apparently include condoning prostitution,, indentured servitude and racism (agains the people of the Marians and American Samoa) against persons that by the way just happen to be by law, American citizens.
