Cindy Sheehan has said that she will run as an independent against Nancy Pelosi in 2008 if she doesn't introduce articles of impeachment against Bush. As many of you here know, I am certainly no Bush supporter. However, I think that it would be unrealistic to expect him to be impeached and convicted. After all, the majority of the House of Representatives would have to vote to impeach Bush. After that, at least 2/3 of the Senate would have to be present for Bush's trial. Of the Senators who are present, 2/3 would then have to vote to convict Bush. Considering the fact that the Democrats hold the majority in both houses of Congress by a very slim margin, how realistic do you think it would be to expect Bush to actually be convicted?

I think Congress should concentrate on ending this senseless war in Iraq, reforming healthcare, making education more accessible, reform Congressional ethics, an energy bill, and some real solutions to slow down global warming. Bush only has one and a half years left. Impeachment would be a waste of time and would not be successful. While I have always admired and supported Cindy Sheehan, I disagree with her this time.

I hope Cindy Sheehan dies a horrible death. I served ten years in the 100% VOLUNTEER army, and if I had died in Iraq and my mother had used that as a political platform, I would hope to God that my service buddies would silence her. Her son chose his path knowing fully the consequences. A soldier follows orders and does his job to accomplish the mission and keep his brothers alive. There is no time for politics when the metal meets the meat. Cindy Sheehan is an embarrassment and has single handedly destroyed the memory of her son. May you rot in hell, b i t c h.

I agree with you. I am a republican but share Bush frustrations with most people. In the end though, the Dems don't have enough support or votes to bring an impeachment and make it stick. If they compelling evidence, they would have brought it forward by now. If the way left side of the Democratic party makes too much noise, I think they jeopardize the appeal of the party's overall message in the upcoming election.

Cindy Sheehan is a complete lunatic. She will basically attack anyone who does not agree with her completely. I don't like Pelosi but even she is smart enough to realize that an impeachment proceeding would be a huge waste of time and go nowhere. Then again that seems to be what the Democrats are the best at.

Before becoming Speaker, she was the House Minority Leader from 2002 to 2007, holding the post during the 107th, 108th, and 109th Congresses.

Since 1987, she has represented the 8th Congressional District of California, which consists of four-fifths of the City and County of San Francisco. The district was numbered as the 5th during Pelosi's first three terms in the House.

As Speaker of the House, Pelosi ranks second in the line of presidential succession, following Vice President Dick Cheney. She is hence the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. Government; no woman has ever been as close in line to the U.S. presidency.

Cindy Sheehan Does not know what she is up against

Quite an assumption you believe Sheehan is thinking. Her liberal handlers are sabre rattleing to get attention since the media has fallen asleep to her protests in Crawford. By attempting to black mail Pelosi, she can make it back into the media like the media whore she is. Now.

You think Bush couldn't be impeached becuase of the 2/3 vote needed in the senate and house? What about the evidence to put forth that he did something wrong in the first place? And convicted of what? War? The same war Pelosi, Clinton, and Kennedy voted for? President can't make war, only Congress can approve war, and the Dems overwhelmingly voted for it. I believe you already know this and this makes you a hypocrit or intelectually dishonest.

Well, when my wife saw her on TV the other day she said "That's a chick?". Cindy was thinking I can cash in on my pseudo-celebrity, because for how ever many years I have lived outside of Bush's ranch and protested the war, because the my son that I gave up as a child was killed in the War in Iraq, and that is Bush's fault. I really don't have much else to do and I need something to do with my life....so... I run against Nancy Pelosi.

Cindy Sheehan is not thinking rationally and has not done so for years.

She does represent the range found in the left wing of the Democratic Party. They better be careful because what might happen is if enough crazy people in San Francisco vote for Sheehan, a Republican could theoretically win that seat. Now its a long shot, but I see there being enough people in that district who are left wing enough to vote for her.

Considering he has not actually committed any impeachable offenses at this time, it is not at all realistic.

But I commend Cindy Sheehan for her single mindedness, even though I completely disagree with her position. If she believes in it strongly enough, she has every right to run against Nancy Pelosi.
