When I've been inside a box, all I could think about was getting out of the box! Once outside the box, I wondered what I was thinking that made me get in the box in the first place! I think about boxes now and then, especially when I have to move! I really hate thinking about boxes. But, whether I'm inside the box or outside the box, I still think!
Think about this!
Who invented the cardboard box?
Who came up with the name box?
Why do they call boxing boxing when it has nothing to do with boxes?
How many different size boxes are there?
What is the size of the world's tiniest box?
What is the size of the world's biggest box?
What is the strangest thing someone put in a box?
Is there such a thing as an oval or round box?
How many boxes have you opened in your life?
When it's made out of plastic is it still a box?

Since you seem to be looking for a real answer and not a ridiculous one....I tend to think initially inside the box, but then expand my thinking to outside the box. That's because I'm married to a guy who doesn't fit in any box, and he's thinks outside the box naturally. I'll be you're interesting to talk to for the same reasons he is!

Unfortunately I think inside the box most of the time. College actually helped me get over that quite a bit but I still tend to keep my ideas within a certain set of parameters. For example...the clinical coordinator where I work has a metal frame shaped like a box and then a guy sitting on the end of a piece of metal that balances outside the box and he is sitting in the position of "the thinker." I saw that and commented on it and she said, "you know, thinking outside the box..." I felt really stupid that I did not get it. I think most people really keep their thinking within parameters unfortunately, so good for you!! Most of my best ideas were those rare occasions when I did think outside the box.

I am a very abstract thinker so I would have to say outside of the box.

What box? The box does not exist. My thoughts have no boundaries.

I agree in principle with Kiki. Having a box, imposes boundaries. I believe this was just some corporate lacky's way of attempting to get his "people" to use their brains in a different way. I like to think... just think....no locations, no boundaries... just think!
