Hi Everyone:

I am unable to use the regedit.exe command because of the following error message: Registry Editor has been disabled by administrator error message. Any information regarding the steps for reenabling the Registry Editor will greatly be appreciated.

You are logging into the pc in an account that does not have administrator rights.

You need administrator rights to do a register edit.

Either log in as an administrator if you can or have your system administrator do the edit.

I had this problem too and I am administration and its the only account on it, I basically just downloaded a freeware registry editor to save a complete reinstall of what seemed like a corrupt file.

I use Registrar Registry Editor.

Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Prevent access to registry editing tools -> Right Click Properties -> Disabled

There is also some virus/spyware/malware that can cause this behavior as well.

Are you login in administrator mode? If not, try to do so first, then you can see it. :-)
