I'll try this again! LOL
Yes, stupidity is curable if the desire to be cured is there.
There is always hope, never quit hoping. I never lost hope and things have gotten so much better.

Something I forgot to say earlier.. Things were very bad for me, but I needed at least the hope that they would get better.
If you lose hope, you may lose the will to try.

Let's divide stupidity into two related categories: ignorance and mental dullness. Ignorance is curable by education. There is no known cure for a person's limited capacity. What we might crudely call intelligence, or IQ, and the more common use of the term stupidity.

But remember that ignorance is just lacking the knowledge, the information, the education. That is clearly curable, and needs to be attacked on all fronts.

Let's start by accepting that the mass media and public education are both a part of the dumbing down of America, and fight back. Throw your television out of the window, choose your movies and Internet surfing with care, as well as your books and magazines.

If you believe public education can still be improved significantly, get busy. Otherwise, work with the best private schools in your area to provide scholarships and support. Home school your children if possible, or look into forming a private school cooperative with other parents.

"Stupidity"

Thousands of people suffer from it each day. You probably know many otherwise normal people who are afflicted with this debilitating phenomenon. People with whom you work and socialize. Neighbors. Friends. Even members of Your own Family may be 'stupid'. Sadly there is no known cure. But there is a way that You can help others come to terms with Their stupidity.
Let Them join "The Republican Party" and give Them a feeling of belonging, by being in the company of other stupid people. Let Them feel safe in the knowledge that just because They are too stupid to think for themselves they can not be excluded from the ballot. Why cause Them the pain of all those unwanted thoughts, when by the simple act of registration all Their thought processes will be shut down and They will no longer be required to contemplate the consequences of Their own actions. Hurry. Avoid disappointment and the prospect of not nullifying a legitimate vote by contacting Your local Precinct Captain today.

Sadly, from long experience I've concluded that with some people there's nothing to be done. It's difficult to cure mindless parenting. But there's hope. Most people aren't as stupid as they can seem. Most have merely been either taught NOT to think - they haven't been taught TO think; and how to do it. If the ones taught not to think are too timid, lazy, or comfortable with their ignorance and delusions to change (there's a lot of that about) nothing can be done - although it's always worth trying. Otherwise one must teach them to distinguish between making mistakes (which we all do) and being persistently stupid (which is avoidable). After that, there's hope. Fortunately, for humanity to survive and prosper it isn't necessary for all to be not stupid. It only requires a critical mass. Obviously we haven't reached it, especially in places of power and those who support them. That's the problem with democracy. But for all our sakes, we must go on doing the best we can.

Hi,
Ignorance they say is bliss so if there was a cure for stupidity, might we be depriving someone of the type of blissful life we all would like to lead? To cure stupidity, the condition must be accurately diagnosed and that’s really difficult. Is stupidity a lack of intelligence, a lack of common sense, a foolhardy nature? And then is the condition long-term or temporary? Anyone can make a stupid mistake and curse themselves for their stupidity but nine times out of ten they’re usually quite sensible. Some people deliberately act stupid for motives of their own but their stupidity can be cured because it’s not genuine anyway so give them a sugar pill and they might be stupid enough to believe they’ve been cured! In which case maybe their condition WAS genuine ?????

Ignorance can be dispelled though its a stretch to say that we can improve upon our 'intelligence'. However almost all of us only mine a very small percentage of our own almost limitless potential.

(ie - we are born with a massive hard-drive, and while we can't really speed up our processing speed very much, we can fill up that hard-drive and use that information and experience for many more things that we think sometimes)

That said, even the most brilliant among us make mistakes. Somehow its easier to forgive others' their mistakes and much harder to forgive our own.

If I didn't believe that we could learn, how could I be a teacher?

Sometimes it wears off as an individual gets older and wises up. Then you have those who what to major in it and make it a career. Those are the ones in political office for life.

If learning is possible, then stupidity is curable. There is always hope.

That's a tough one. You see, stupid people don't know they are stupid, so they don't care to get better so they don't do anything to change. Catch-22.
