Talk about accountability in government! This guy took bribes leading to all the tainted food and drugs that China exports we've all been hearing about. So they executed him. Somebody should tell the Chinese how Capitalism works. You gotta grease the wheels a little sometimes.

What they should be focused on even more is....

Who was giving him the bribes that led to the the food being tainted.

who was responsible we may never know...The man that was killed was probably just a scape goat. One man alone can't do so much damage. It was a team effort....and he got stuck with the check.

It needs to be said that different cultures have different moral values, and consequently a wholely different outlook on things. In this case, death is not as appalling to Chinese culture as it is to Western standards of humanism.

In the dynastic ages, it is not uncommon to have one's entire clan executed for a severe offense. A mandarin who usurped the dragon throne in the Three Kingdom Period was on the receiving end of this sort of punishment. A total about a thousand (if my memory serves me right) men, women and children were decapitated at the gates of the city on execution day. No exceptions, mind.

Corruption has been so rampant and endemic that I think the Chinese government just got miffed. Personally I feel that the punishment was rather appropriate, because I don't value too highly the life of a person with such insignificant moral standards.

I think a little bit of "Chinese" style justice might do this country some good. It would certainly light a fire under the butts of a few polititions. Maybe we could tell them that if they don't come up with and pass good immigration policies by the end of the year they will be up for a public hanging. I bet the job would get done quickly, efficiently, and to the publics satisfaction.

I'm not a big one for the death penalty.

I know his greed ended up getting a lot of people killed, and he certainly deserved very harsh punishment, but it is still rather shocking and appalling to me when a government (any government) executes a prisoner.

Also, I feel sorry for his family. The Chinese government has a bad habit of doing horrible things to the families of discredited high party members.

Honestly bro, fuc.k him. He broke the law in the extreme. He has cost 100 of million of dollars to governments; men, women and babies have died because of his greed. I hope that sends the message out. They should also prosecute the companies and people who did the bribing as well.

A bit extreme but maybe a fair warning to others who screw around with their political power.
Too bad this is only one in a million.

I think it's a bit excessive. But it is also a good indicator of how the Chinese actually "fear" American protectionist measures. It appears we have more power of China than previously thought.

Tell you what as awful as it sounds.
It does show how serious China is about improving themseleves.

Can you imagine what would happen if that was to happen here?

I wonder if they used and FDA approved apparatus to perform the execution.
