Got confused for a moment by all the answers.... had to dive next to my bed to see..... but I am ok; it's still a 3-hole power socket. Which needs 3pin plug (square, not round pins). BTW, all sockets at the office are like this.
All your UK cords should be fine.
To take away all the confusions I took a picture and posted it on my site. This is what you will need:

ps. Thanks Tom for the interesting link.

The 2 pin ones work... barely. You will need the ones they use in England. The Britts colonized this place and build most of the stuff here so it is British standard everything here. Even the roads were designed for right hand drive and since I am a Roadway Designer I can tell the roads are not designed to drive on the left... but we do anyway.

Bizarre actually. All businesses/residences etc have normal 3 pin plug sockets, but any electrical equipment you buy out here only has 2 pin, so you need to buy adapters for the sockets. All UK equipment works out here as it is!!
p.s. I live in Dubai, so I know it's correct!!

There is a mixture of both continental european two pin and English 3 rectangular pin. For example, the office I am sitting in as I write has all English sockets. I always carry two adaptors with me, one that converts English 3 pin to 2 pin (my laptop charger is three pin) and another to convert the other way (my telephone charger is 2 pin).
See http://kropla.com/electric2.htm and look under United Arab Emirates.

Two pin with round pins. but... if you are traveling you can get a plug set at most good luggage/travel stores. I did this and have yet to find a place that wasn't covered by this set. they are inexpensive and cover every contingency. Good luck.
