how can i install my canon iP1000 printer?

This is a standard USB ported printer. There should have been info that came with it that tells you how to install it.

If it is not there, go to the Cannon site and the manual should be there.

Usually you load the drivers and related software on the pc, then plug it in and all runs.

With every printer (or rather with every hardware) an installation CD is supplied by the manufacturer.
Just insert the CD in CD Drive and follow the instructions.
It will be automatically installed.
