Muslim woman has been arrested for allegedly listening to music while sitting as a juror in a murder trial.
It is alleged she concealed an MP3 player and earphones beneath a traditional hijab.
The woman, was part of a murder trial jury at Blackfriars Crown Court. The man on trial was later jailed for life for murdering his wife.
So there you have it.A muslim can do many things whilst wearing a hijab.ie try to escape a failed bomb attack.
Why can they get away with wearing one. What utter contempt for the UK hides behind the mask of religious doctrine?
This woman has shown NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER for the victim's family. She's being held in contemt of court and I hope they throw the book at her. With stories like this, how can we ever be a 'united' society. It will never happen.I can't see a normally-dressed juror even thinking about walking into a court of law wearing an ipod??!! But just try challenging one of these 'women',and its race hate harassment.
What do you think?

I agree with Merovingian.YOU are the muppet. You have TOTALLY misunderstood the point and you are a case-in-point.'Oh wow, let's jump on the racist bandwagon.'It's people like you that have made this country what it is today ie a shithole.
Perhaps the 'B' stands for Brainache

The whole things a joke.
The government are too soft on this type of thing.
Political correctness has gone mad.
I empathise with the victims family, but the "offender" now has grounds for an appeal as obviously his case wasn,t fully "heard" (no pun)

It also shows contempt for the victim's family. If the trial had proceeded and it was later established that she was not listening fully to what was being said, this could be at best a re-trial, which would put the victim's family through the whole ordeal again, or at worst, result in the conviction being quashed on a technicality and the perpetrator walking free from court. Although the rules on double jeopardy have been changed recently, it would still mean that the man would not be able to face a re-trial on the same charge and therefore may walk free amongst law abiding citizens, perhaps to commit the same crime all over again......

It is a privilege to serve on a Jury, not a chore. It is also a civic duty. A duty that should be taken seriously.
I can only say that ANYONE who behaves in such a manner, regardless of race, colour or sexual persuasion, should be dealt with accordingly.
I do not think, however, the lady in question would be too pleased if she was in front of a jury who paid no attention to her case and found her guilty anyway!!!

I hope she is gaoled for a long time with no remision. Her conduct throuighout the trial was irresponsible and contemptuous. She should be stripped of her nationality and deported to whatever country will have her, the part of Afganistan controled by the Taliban, Iran, or Saudi perhaps

As a muslim woman the idea of a trial must have seemed totally alien to her.
"Why dont they just take him outside and stone him or cut off a limb or something?" she must have been wondering.
Any way it does display more double standards of the Muslim faith. If they want to live in the dark ages and wear scarves to show their relogious zeal. Surely an iPod must be something created by the western devil! Unless she was listening to speeches by Abu Hamza. They are now available on CD and DVD!!!
"By Hook or by Crook" the Hamza complation!

What an fool. for the period of a homicide trial too - the place someone's freedom is at stake for probably an wonderful style of years. What a shame. nicely, as suggested there is the potential of an countless effective and a penal complex sentence probable besides. i'm not sure what i think of is purely, yet she could desire to truly function an occasion to others approximately taking their civic popular jobs heavily.

We British should stop being so weak with such items from cultures drastically different from UK culture. We should simply ban the hijab in UK public places.

I think it's pretty sad when ANYbody takes their juror responsibility in such a lax manner.
Becoming a citizen of any country has its advantages over ones country of origin or else they wouldn't have applied to live in their new country. Along with the "perks" of living there comes responsibilities as citizens. If those responsibilities are taken with such disregard...they need to move back to their country of origin!
Just my humble opinion!

I heard this on the news. She is dispicable and I hope they throw the book at her.
She was apparently late every morning and they had to wait for her, and she had already tried to get time off for a course that, it was discovered, she could complete on the internet.
I am amazed tthey let her stay as long as they did

i think the judge handled it very well. and i also hope the book gets thrown at her, not for her religious beliefs, or the fact she's a woman, but for the simple fact that she was called upon to do a serious job and treated it as a triviality. i hope she gets a lengthy sentance.
