There are several places you can go to (1) buy a domain name, (2) buy a web hosting package, (3) create your site, and (4) host your site site. I numbered these because these are 4 separate things you will need to do. Here are 2 companies that allow you to do all 4.

http://www.yahoo.com
http://www.godaddy.com

After you've purchased your domain (in other words, your website name like www.mywebsite.com), you can use the tools provided by Yahoo or Go Daddy to create your site.

Costs vary. But, it usually costs $7 to $11 per year for the domain name. And it usually costs $7 to $50 per month for a hosting package.

Hi there,
It's one thing to launch a website which can be less than $5.......It is quite another to launch a successful website that actually attracts eyeballs (traffic),

The $5 one sounds cheap...but what is the cost if you develop it over the next year or 2....and the Host suddenly closes up shop (usually because his/her expenses exceeded revenue.)
If you are serious about developing a business long-term (at your own pace and in an area you like), there is a great resource that you are free to research. I'll be glad to send a link...on receipt of your email.
Good Luck to you.

That depends on your objectives. The best way to launch a website quickly is by using a content management system

Godaddy.com = less than $10 to register a domain

checkout dreamhost.com for potential domain hosting, they are a little pricy ($200 for 2 years) but provide you with all the tools you need to produce a much more appealing website.

Sometimes it won't cost you anything. If you go t a free web hosting site, and be in constant contact with your internet provider to let them know that you will be hosting through them, you should be all set. If you talk to customer service with your internet provider, tell them you are uploading a website, they will give you the information that you need to do it. (Usually a username and password as well as FTP number.)
