Why is it that the American people have never impeached Bush? Surely Clinton's White House romp was less deadly than the thousands of American soldiers and civilians that have been killed.

George Bush, regardless of how blindly you hate him, has not committed any impeachable offenses. He never "lied" about war, which is a popular rally cry of the far-left sheeple, and as Commander in Chief of the US military, has the right to declare war on other nations. Congress agreed with him, Democrats and Republicans alike. The Democratic leadership knows this, which is exactly why they have not raised articles of impeachment.

Bill Clinton lied to a federal grand jury, which is an impeachable offense. Anybody else who lied to a federal grand jury would go to prison, yet he did not. That should give you a fair taste of what justice is in the US.

Clinton's impeachment isn't a good standard to judge the criteria for impeachment. His impeachment was basically a frivolous lawsuit.

Bush broke no laws in going to war in Iraq. In fact, he got Congressional authorization before he did it.

You could argue that he cherry picked intelligence to justify the war, but ignoring all information except the information he agreed with is poor judgement, not a crime. I wouldn't even agree that Bush misled Congress. Even without access to classified intelligence, there was enough conflicting evidence available that Congress was pretty dubious about the reliability of Bush's claims.

It would be more fair to say Bush misled the public, which raised pro-war sentiment to a level that Congress didn't have the courage to resist regardless of what they knew about Iraq.

You should read Winston Wheeler's "Week of Shame" (which, unfortunately, you have to pay for to get access to now - alternatively, you could sort through the Congressional Record for the first week of October, 2002). The debate was pretty tortured as Senator after Senator seemed to pretend the bill they were voting on said something entirely different than it actually did.

To avoid a big debate, i will just say the technical answer: There are not enough democrats to impeach him. the exact number of soldiers dead is in the 3000's, one of the least lethal 4 year wars in history.

The american people don't impeach, congress does. It is dangerous for congress to impeach a president, because it sets a precedent and could make it more likely that the tactic is used more often in the future. Since congress exists to serve their own interests, it simply isn't worth the risk to impeach the president unless it's a slam dunk sort of thing.

Because the GOP had made *sure* that Bush could do anything he wanted (legally or otherwise), and made the process of holding him accountable for his actions that much more difficult.

Leaving...?

The people in the dark, and the Democrats in a pickle.

I hate "Bushy" but when he said there were dangers to America, and weapons of mass destruction.....HE BELIEVED IT. ( Remember 9-11?)

Clinton ( though I did like him in a funny way) AT NO POINT BELIEVED he didn't commit sex acts with Lewinsky.
That makes that a lie, bold faced lie....that is what makes someone impeachable.

Even though Bushy is a wreck, and I want him out, he waged war based on intell he received, it may have not been accurate...but we can not fault him for that particular part.

What about Clinton's breaking the law and getting disbarred in Arkansas for it, what about his lieing under oath, what about his being unable to give the order to kill Osama when they spotted him because he was with Monica Lewinsky and "not to be disturbed"?

mostly because the Republicans had a lock grip on Congress until this last January, and there are still not enough Dems in Congress to over-rule the Republicans

I believe people are afraid to impeach Bush because then we would have Cheny then if we impreach Cheny then we would have Pelosi. Well I think you get the picture. Can't trust any politicians.

Well, the easy answer, no matter what your polical affliations are, is that Bush has not been charged with any crime. A policy in which soldiers are killed is not a criminal activity.
