We do unite as a country. We have our problems as all other countries do, but we are united in our patriotism. The best examples of how we unite is evident when a disaster hits. The Tsunami hit Indonesia and America turned out to raise funds and provide relief for those survivors. We also helped the countries to maintain stability during that devastation. We united by the millions during the dark days after 9-11 tragedy and Hurricane Katrina. I will agree that few now support our president, but we all support our way of government. We may not be as advanced in social sciences such as racial unity and discrimination toward others. But we are well advanced in many other ways. At least we can debate our problems without a military regime going through our streets and slaughter thousands of innocent people. We are also the number exporter of emergency food and medical supplies. If you are not an American, you can not understand our way of life and our patriotism. We are all like a family. We may argue amongst ourselves a little. But we don't allow for other countries to pick on us. We mourn our losses and provide our prayers and support for everyone who is in a terrible situation. Recently several firefighters were killed in Charleston, SC. They received hundred of thousands of sympathy cards from all over America. We are there for each other and other countries just don't understand us in that sense.

Sure. We all love our french fries.

The US is amongy the most religiously and ethnically diverse nations on earth, so tensions between groups are to be expected. Our efforts to teach tolerance and understanding are largely successful, but not entirely.

We do, however, unite as a country on occasion. We were, for instance, a single entity for quite some time after September 11, 2001. To a lesser degree, we're like that every July 4th, our Independence Day, and whenever a US athlete or team wins in world competition.

gatherings. They unite at times of crisis: 9/11, etc. They
unite when they're needed. I think for the most time, we're all so very busy. I think yahooanwers isa way of uniting. You can find united ways if you look hard. They unite at parades, celebrations (did u see fireworks) and for good causes...have you ever signed a petition? voted?

Yep. We just saw that recently--the Fourth of July, Independence Day! Look at Washington, DC, too. All kinds of people from all kinds of regions with all kinds of beliefs, united in their awe of the history and their respect of offices (if not the people who currently fill them.)

Too true. WWII was the last time unanimity prevailed.

Hell's bells! Though titularly 'united', even the states no longer 'unite' on very anything.
