I am heading to the tropics for some humanitarian work and am wondering what people find is the best over the counter insect repellent to be found in the UK.

Ideally if someone could point me at a brand/product name I can ask for in Boots that would be great

Thanks

By all means buy a product from a chemist but also try taking garlic capsules for a while before you travel and continue taking them when your there. Insects hate it and you will benefit too they are good for you. Dont worry about being anti-social as the capsules are odourlous.

It in all probability relies upon on once you pass there. for the time of the wet season (June to the top of October) you in all probability could have some situation with mosquito bites. And an insect repellant could help. despite the fact that that is not something you should carry with you. Insect repellants are bought there in many shops.

Autan by Bayer is good, I don't know if it is available in the UK or if it has that name. But Bayer has the same name, so if you find a bayer product in a yellow bottle i bet that's it.
