Are we lost? No, I don't think that we are lost in the true sense of the word. It does seem that we have stalled in some areas of social reform. But we are a country with high principles and standards. We are mentors for the world. Our technoligical advances in science, medicine and economics proves that we are not lost although there are still advancements to come that will make our nation even more influential in the world cultures.

i am not sure how to take your question. I think a lot of Americans are lost spiritually, but some of them just don't know or care what's going on in the real world. They are physically lost on news and things they need to be aware of. Some of them just don't care--the rest are just not informed. Not everyone has e-mail or gets a daily paper.

no, not lost, but definitely confused, scared and fear makes you do stupid things.

Americans are usually the most resillient people but 9/11 scared and scarred them. I think they've been suffering post traumatic syndrome ever since. And the Bush administration hasn't helped, if anything it's fostered that fear and isolationist behaviour. Afterall if you truly are the best country in the world , why would someone do something like 9/11 to them. And jealousy is too simple an answer.

Bush and his administration had some religious and philosphical agenda they wanted to carry out and took the American people down with them.

Read some of the answers people gave, and you'll see evidence that some Americans are indeed lost because a) they are too focused on doing only one thing: making money. Or, b) they are too afraid of homeland security. In fact, they may be so concerned about homeland security for the sake of protecting their investments!

It's not all Americans.--but it may be a majority. The political milieu can make it feel like you are living in Oceania (i.e., Orwell's 1984).

Yes and we are wandering around Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction and it's taking our troops over four years to find the weapons.
Nope.....I just think that some people meaning the politicians are just not making a lot of good choices lately. I think instead of lost I would use the word CONFUSED! I know I am confused with what I am seeing and hearing lately.

We are lost if we do not stand united and fight against the insane right and left wing radicals tearing us apart. If we allow insane men like Mr Bush and Mr Chenny to commit war crimes and trample our rights and liberties then we are not worthy as the Americans who fought to secure these for us

Yes, most are. They linger on issues like racism when diff races have been around for centuries. They are like sheep lead to slaughter b/c they believe everything the media says. They think they have freedom when the truth is they are still being controlled in their mind. They are easily manipulated & cannot see it b/c they will not pick up a book to read it. The education sys is in big trouble.

Yes, they are lost & they don't even realize it.
