lake in 1 or 2 cabins, with fishing, water crafts etc, have teens from 19 to 22, and children 5 to 10 years old. Would like to go around Labor day weekend. I've been looking on the internet but I'm always taken to other sites and I just get crazy sitting here looking. So I was wondring if someone knows of a nice place with everything to do. Someone did mention Putin Bay but even that sight It doesn't tell me enough info, we have been to Silver Lake Dunes before and that was fun, but we would like to stay somewhere other people loved for these age kids. We live close to Detroit area. Thank You

My family has been to Hills Point Resort in the UP a couple of times now, and enjoyed it. It's near Cedarville, in the eastern UP. Just go to the bridge and turn right. :-)

Seriously - we've had a great time. We brought our son's best friend with us, and the 2 of them kept each other busy most of the time. The resort is located on an island in the Les Cheneaux area, but you can drive to it. They have boats for rent, and kayaks, too. The people that run the place are friendly and laid back. You're close enough that you can go to the Soo, to Mackinac, Drummond Island, Taquemenon, etc. You could even go to Traverse City if you wanted to drive a bit that day. I wouldn't mind going back for a week sometime.

Some of the cabins are old - the oldest was built about 1946, according to Max, one of the owners. Most are at least 40 years old. They're all comfortable and usable, with fridge, oven, microwave, TV, indoor bathrooms, beds and bedding, etc. But they haven't seen an interior decorator. Still, if you're not the type that insists on a 4 star hotel, you should be happy here. They're all on the water, as the website shows.

The one thing that may not work for you based on what you've said is the size of the cabins. Most are 2 bedroom units, with a fold-out couch. There are 2 or 3 3 bedroom cabins. You could put 6 people in a 2 bedroom cabin, but it would be cozy. You would probably need to get 3 cabins to fit 12 people comfortably, depending on how well you get along.

While he would have been gone, there will always be other ones that you'll fall in love with when you get back, but the only thing you can do is have someone dog sit. Pay someone a generous amount, maybe $200 or more, to take care of the puppy at their house. If the dog was an adult, I'd say maybe $100, but since it's such a young puppy, it's going to require a LOT more work. Now if you're going to be gone a week or so, I'd say pay them a good $500. If this isn't possible, postpone the vacation. Or take the puppy with you. Use a pet taxi, crate, etc and make many stops along the way. Or surrender the puppy back to the shelter if you aren't willing to do any of this. The shelter WOULD have kept your puppy until after your vacation had you paid for him and not gotten him a few days ago. Edit: Someone said you'll be spared the grief of training him if a trainer dog sits. Potty training takes months, so....
