Never!

Side affects are not better or worse whether you get the shot on your period or not.

I was on it for four years and I am so glad I am OFF the depo shot. The side affects were horrible, and people experience them no matter when they got the shot.

There are so many negatives that a majority of women experience on this shot it isn't funny. Sure, a few women have no problems, and if you DO get this shot I hope like hell you are one of the lucky ones.

Just google "depo provera reviews" and click on the RateItAll link, and google "depo provera lawsuit" and read those results.

The side affects are the same on your period or not. I was on depo and decided to change after 7 /1/2 years because as time went on my legs began to ache ( my thighs front and back) I didn't have a period for the whole time I was on it. That was the good part. But the reason I made my decision to get off was because I began to have migranes and dissy spells only to find out that I was begining to develope blood clots in my legs. I was also begining to have high blood pressure this scared the crap outta me so I stop right getting the injections. And don't believe that you can't get pregnant 18mths after no longer getting it, I got my period the next month after I was told it could take up to a year. The shot messed up my system so bad that I tried getting on seasonal and I couldn't even take that it caused the same side affects so in between all of this I had to take no extrogen pills that I thought would finally work but It was to late I was 4 weeks pregnant. So the lesson is never be to sure of what these so called professional say. Protect yourself, i'm married but still 7 1/2 yrs with out dealing with a period and no infant kids was fun, but now it's a complete culture shock my daughter is 4 1/2 months now I miss my freedom of having just a 9yrs old and 7 yr old. I hope this helps. Oh I also gained weight which sucked.

During your period.

I am on the shot and I can say it has worked wonderfully for me. I make sure to take calcium everyday. I've read real horror stories about depo but I haven't gained weight or experienced any mood changes.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

don't do it. I had one shot, and it ruined my life. avoid this one at all costs. find something else, there is so much to choose from.... do your research, save yourself heartache.
