I mean you still have to sit in traffic and how many small parking spaces are there in our towns and cities? They are also really dangerous in an accident and handle very poorly! Quite cute to look at i agree but a bit pointless i reckon!

Yes, they are pointless. I am very sorry to say how stupid Chrysler was to spend $700 million on developing those smart cars, and they still aren't readily available in the states. I saw a picture of what a guy looked like after getting hit in one head on by a semi, and man, he was in about six pieces with this torso ripped off of this spine. Eww. Ill pass.

I assume you mean the fortwo (for two people) when you refer to a smart car (please note lower case!!).

They are structurally sound, on British tv a crash test was performed at 70 mph into a concrete wall (well above the average standard for a crash test), yes the occupants would be killed due to g-force and not the car failing structurally. The panels popped out and the glass smashed but the doors could be open easily as it had not deformed much compared to a Vauxhall Corsa (a small British car) which was a total mess completely crumpled!! If you are above 6ft tall it is inadvisable to drive one.

I drive a forfour (the 5 door for four people) yes it may be a Mitsubishi engine but it is mostly Mercedes engineering. It is a 1.3l (small engine I know) which produces 95bhp, i average 46mpg and the car is pretty quick cos it is mostly plastic. rust is not really going to be much of a problem plus if I get bored of the colour I can change it quite easily.

As with fortwos and forfours every owner I know love them and trust them. Its like the orignal Mini small, compact, nimble and stable due to the corner positioning of the wheels to make the wheel base as long as possible.

I love my forfour its great, its quirky, highly unusual (I see more Aston Martins) and has two great car manufacturers behind its production.

They are NOT pointless and not that small (mine is nicknamed the TARDIS).

Well, the smart for 4 is just as good on fuel as the standard smart car. I think the smar for 4 has really got that 'cute' factor, although the standard smart is cute too. Other than the fuel, I think it is also cheaper to insure and tax. Also, it is easier to squeeze through to big cars on the road when you just want to get past cheekily rather than wait.

No benefits whatsoever. As a matter of fact most so called hybrid cars get worse gas mileage than my Chevy Cobalt.

Most new vehicles are dangerous in accidents because everything on them is made out of plastic, or a fiberglass composite.

You can park them sideways in a normal parking slot so you can get 2 for 1 there. They are too expensive for what they are in my book.

Apparently the smart four four is a Mitsubishi colt in disguise.

They aren't that good on gas mileage, have a very irritating gearbox, and have potential safety issues. For the price I wouldn't want one. You can get a proper car from the Koreans for much less ££

A poor choice of car unless you are a complete penny pincher with no concern for your safety.........You might as well get a bike
