Yes, this is true. In a healthy person, urine is completely sterile, and that is why it is so easily contaminated. It's an ideal environment for microbes to grow in because it's completely clean and it's warm enough to promote growth. In the past people have drank their own urine when they were out of water and it helped them to survive longer. However, urine also has lots of salts in it, and will eventually dehydrate you.

It's sterile until it gets out of your body and is exposed to all the bacteria and stuff on you. Hey, if you're dehydrated, liquid is good. It'll sustain you, but how much are you going to have if you're so dehydrated you'd drink your own pee?

A man survived after being trapped for several days with her daughter under the ruins of an earthquake aftermath (I've forgotten where).
During under the ruins he drank his own pee while his daughter wanted a coke and refused to drink her own pee. Her daughter was starved and dehydrated to death.

If you drank anything if your thirsty, it will save your life.......for a while. But if you pee on your shirt or a towel and you happen to be in a very hot area you can wrap it around your head and it will definitely, from experience, keep you cool. I did this while on patrol in the Mid East.

It is sterile, and in some cases where you have no water (urine contains water) you may drink it to hydrate your body and organs.

Yes, but you need to filter it. Even filtering it with your shirt will allow you to drink it and hydrate yourself.

When all else has failed, people have survived on it, although it contains some toxicity, because it's our waste in water.
