Have the Euro. The sooner we become the United States of Europe the better, make much more sense economically and strategically and politically!

Personally, as we travel extensively in Europe, it would be far easier to just have the one currency than keep having to change it back to sterling every time.
However, some countries have come to regret their decision to join such as Italy, I think. There things used to be 1000 lire, say, but they are now 1 Euro but 1000 lire was worth about 30p and a Euro is about 62p so prices have effectively doubled there but wages have not significantly increased.
It may be different in the more industrial economies like Germany where prices were relatively high before and now they have the Euro, prices have come down.
It is a good idea in theory in some ways as it saves having to change currency over and it was supposed to unify prices so a loaf of bread would cost the same wherever it was bought but this has tougher implications on some countries than others.

Keep the pound! Yes okay it may be easier for those who travel a lot to europe if we adopted the Euro, but it would drastically weaken our economy! I love having the pound when I'm travelling, I get so much more foriegn currency compared to the Euro!
The pound is a valued part of the british culture, like dollars are to America, it is partly what sets us apart and defines us as a nation along with many other things. But saying that, our culture is being stripped away piece by piece anyway so why not take the pound too?
Also it would be simply one more step to the unwanted European superstate, the bloody government knows they can't drag us in now, so they are doing it slowly, piece by piece, mark my words in 10 years we will be part of Europe wether we want it or not.

NO.......Keep the pound! The UK may be faced with the choice as to whether or not to join this unproven experiment from which there is no return. The significance to our business and daily lives is profound so if you are still in the company of the large group of business people who have their heads firmly stuck in the sand, be warned, the time may be fast approaching when it will be necessary to stand up and be counted. The UK is the fourth largest economy in the world and for a change it is currently the most dynamic of the G7 (despite being outside the eurozone!) sterling can stand on its own very successfully as an international currency...
As the saying goes...."If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!!!...

I don't see any need to change the currency, but it might be good for the economy in the long run.
I know that when Germany went to the Euro most stores put their prices up by about 20% across all stock so most companies were better off for the change but most consumers lost out.
In the end though the opinion of the people does not matter the government will do what it wants regardless.

As a Euro-sceptic, who would prefer it if the UK had the same status as Norway, I have never had an issue with a single European currency albeit under the following two conditions:
1) The Central European Bank is located at Threadneedle Street, London; and
2) It is known as Pound Sterling!
Other than these two conditions, I'm fairly relaxed about the whole thing.

A very stupid idea not only would it be very confusing it would be the thin edge of the wedge towards getting rid of the pound altogether, and another thing it would not make things cheaper just the opposite. I have family in Holland and when they adopted the Euro prices went up instead of down.

You should never try to fix something that isn't broken. Definitely keep Sterling. Its a very strong and trusted currency. We would lose control over inflation and interest rates if we adopted the Euro.
Somebody needs to be a moaning old grumpy swine in Europe, and no one does it better than the UK.

Keep the pound every country that has taken on the Euro has suffered significant inflation (as we did during decimalisation)
Evidence from so many different countries from Holland, Germany and Greece to name but three where I have seen the damage caused confirms we do not want the Euro in Britain.

The EU Bureaucrats have taken so much control over the UK that no matter what the General public think the government will do the opposite. i strongly feel the Pound Sterling should be kept as it is our countries currency & has been for Decades.

Skint in Euros or skint in pound sterling is still skint! My one objection to the Euro would be that prices would inevitably be rounded up as opposed to down, meaning that we would be ripped off yet again by retailers and the government
