I don't want to bid for something before I know this, and ebay's user guides or w/e aren't helping much at all and they just give out the information a 2 year old kid wouldn't know, so yea.

I want to know if you mail the money order to the person or something else?

Also, is there any other alternative that some sellers take, OTHER than credit cards (pay pal)?, cause I googled pay pal and they have a whole website of people telling of scams and things like that with ebay sellers, and I'm not too hot about using a credit card online anyway, you think differently? Try to convince me why cause I do however like the convinence of using a credit card opposed to the whole getting money out of the bank, and making a money order thing etc.

Do they send you the item before after, or during the time you send them the money order?

you send the money order first, then receive the item.

this works in theory because ebay protects you from fraud, and the seller does not want a negative feedback report.

i personally use paypal. it is safe and effective. waiting for the money order to get there is time consuming and does not afford added protection.

if you do not wish to use paypal and insist on using a money order, i suggest you look at the seller's feedback score. also, make sure you have good contact and communication with them. hope this helps.

The seller will say in their listing what types of payment they accept. If they take money orders and you want to pay that way, then you mail them the money order and after they get it, they send you the item.

You are no more protected from a scam if you send a money order that if you just pay through PayPal, since if they don't send the item you're in pretty much the same boat either way. I'd be very cautious about giving my credit card number directly to a seller.

There are lots of scam sellers on ebay, unfortunately. Most sellers are honest, but sometimes it's real hard to tell. If you are buying something expensive, be very cautious.

I always check the ratings of the seller, and unless an item is only a couple dollars and I really want it, won't buy from any seller that doesn't have a fairly long history with ratings around 96% or better - and if it's not around 99%, I read the comments to see why - if it's just comments about slow shipping, I might still buy, but if it says something like never got item, seller doesn't reply to emails, forget it!

look at what you are bidding on and it will let you know if the seller accepts money orders, when you win the bid you will be given the sellers information and you can email them also their address should be listed you make it out to them and send it to the seller direct. I have done this a number of times and have had no problems. As for paypal as long as you are on the ebay site and pay with paypal you should be safe. I too have done this number of times

I got ripped off for buying a clock and sending a money order. Look for anyone that offers paypal and has many sales with a good rating.
You need to give Paypal your credit card, and checking account info, but this is so easy and you are protected somewhat.
