No, when he arrived they all swarmed in shouting, "Surprise! Happy Birthday!" His wife said, "Honey, you'd better bee-hive yourself, my waspish sister Poll 'n her husband are here." They gave him wine. "It's nectar to my lips," said Fred. Meanwhile, guests gave speeches about Fred, waxing lyrical yet droning on a bit but at least with no stinging remarks. After a couple of hours the guests decided to buzz off and leave Fred, tired but happy, contemplating his lovely evening.

No. Bees don't talk. It went quiet as they were all watching Fred's dance to tell them where he'd found a decent stash of flowers.
Alternatively Fred smelt so bad that everyone had stopped talking as they were trying to hold thier breath.

there was a bit of a buzz going about that fred had bee(n) having an affair ( a real honey apparently who likes rock n roll and has a bee hive hairdo)...
