He was the sacrificial lamb.

Its laughable that they shot this guy and at the same time try to keep up their attempt to claim that other countries products are equally unsafe and contaminated.

The Chinese communist government remains what it has always been, an ugly, corrupt dictatorship without conscience or scruples.

Actions like this are nothing more than bold political attempts by their goverment to mollify the global community regarding their sheer disregard for meeting established food safety requirements. Their shrimp industry is going to be radically affected by global refusal to import the tainted product. The list goes on and on. By making this man the scapegoat for all this controversy, they hope to dupe other countries into thinking that they have a conscience. Even a global outcry will not alter their mission.

China does not play. Very very strict. China is NOT trying to make a point to the rest of the world. There are many executions carried out for crimes outside of murder.

I was watching world atlast china (on discovery channel also on dvd along with brazil italy good series) and you will get death for crimes outside of first degree/intentional murder(s).

I remember them saying that people get executed for stealing and for smuggling drugs into their country. They had checkpoints at their borders (they were showing the life of a female officer which is abnormal in their society).

quote from article:

"China uses the death penalty for a wide range of crimes, from murder to economic crimes such as corruption."

As far as the report from the official Chinese news agency Xinhua goes, he was guilty of approving six medicines that turned out to be fake, and for taking bribes worth $832,000.
My thoughts are, would you slap a corrupt public official on the wrist, or put a bullet through his brain? I know which one I support.

To me, this seems unbelievable, but I guess he was indirectly responsible for many deaths. Even in America, killing many people will earn you the death sentence. Seems sad.
