Apparently sleep comes in discreet blocks, and if you wake during one of these "blocks" of sleep, you can feel drained and tired, rather than more rejuvinated, despite getting a couple of extra hours sleep.

There are a great number of reasons why you might be feeling like this, and it depends very much on your personal circumstances.
Are you over- or underweight?
If you are overweight, your body has to work harder just to do everyday things, and if you are too thin, you may not have enough strength in your muscles to do everyday things without becoming tired.
Have you been ill, or are you undergoing treatment for an illness?
Any serious illness can make you tired, especially painful conditions, and some less serious illnesses like glandular fever can leave you feeling tired. Serious operations on your abdomen or chest, certain drugs, such as beta blockers and strong pain-killers and treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy can obviously contribute.
Are you unfit?
If you feel tired, you don't do as much as you normally would, and if you cut down the amount you do, your body becomes unfit. Just one week of resting in bed reduces your muscle strength by 10%. The more unfit you get, the more tired you will be when you try and do something.

May be more active the next day
or
having only 2-3 hours sleep a day may build up in ur system making u more tired progressively.
7-8 hours still isnt enough. The NHS recommend 10 hours min.

You need to get back into the routine of sleeping 8 hours a day. It isn't healthy to sleep less than that. Sometimes your body will be telling you that it doesn't need the sleep so you need to make sure that you get in bed 8 hours before you need to get back up. After about a week your body will get used to the routine and you will feel less tired.

your body must not be used to sleeping 7-8n hours a day so you need to keep at it. the fact that you're always tired is your body trying to get you to sleep. but, the reason you don't function properly when you do sleep is, it's a change for your body. 1/3 of your life is spent sleeping.

Hi matey, had the same prob a while ago. I suggest that you go and have a blood test, sounds like your iron levels are low. Make sure that you are eating a well balanced diet mate!!

Same problem i have..Its a form of insomnia and for people like us its difficult sleeping to long as our bodies are not used to that much rest..

Sleep at a place where you get sufficient oxygen. Eat energy foods.

you might have M.E,a condition my sister who's 16 had a problem with.She was in the middle of her GCSE's,and had to miss loads of school because the day was far too long for her to take.
