Not really, I wanted to post an answer to another question and it was barred by Yahoo as 'abuse'. I was actually giving a measured and thought out argument but unfortunately as it wasn't criticising the USA or Anti West (which get posted all the time) and it was criticising another group (you may be able to guess which group) it was classed as abuse. I didn't think use a single abusive word, I only expressed a point of view, which I believe is true (it may not be correct to some people, but it was MY opinion), an opinion I believe the questioner would have been more than interested to hear it. I also have noted some crude sexual innuendos are accepted on this site, they offend me-why aren't they abuse.
So no. You only have a right to state the accepted opinion and you'd better get used to it, as the situation is getting worse

Freedom of Speech does in fact mean that you have the right to express yourself freely. There are some restrictions if your speech is likely to incite imminent lawless action. You are even allowed the right to use your speech for slander and propaganda, although you then do have the right to be sued for defamation of character and things like that.

Interestingly enough the right to free speech has been known to be restricted in socialism. It is ironic seeing as how liberals are often being called socialists by the not-so-informed. Perhaps they heard the phrase on talk radio and instantly accepted this idea without their own research.

Regardless, it is odd that your question gets answers like 'shut up' and said response instantly gets 3 thumbs up. It is obvious that the average age of people on this site is about 13. Maybe you can not lead so much in your question to get better answers.

Thereare two issues here. Yes--you have freedom of speech, wheher others want to hear it or not. But you are NOT entitled to an audience, if no one cares to listen. Nor does your right to speak give you any immunity from criticism. Others can respond in any way they like--that's THEIR freedom of speech.

Y/A is different. This is a public forum, yes--but it is provided by a private entity--and you are granted permission to use their property ONLY on certain conditions. That is not a restriction on your rights. It is--morally and legally--exactly thesame a s when you invite someone into your home--with the understanding, explicit or implicit, that they will behave with a minimum of courtesy. If they don't--you have every right to throw them off your property. So do the people at Yahoo.

Well, by you blocking people (even if they are rude) aren't you disregarding their right to free speech?

Of course, at the same time you are exercising your rights to stop those who you feel are rude. That too is a right guaranteed by the rules of yahoo answers.

We all have a right to our own opinions. That's what freedom of speech is all about.

Why do you think our founding fathers gave the press the freedoms they have? It was so politicians would always be held accountable to us.

Ask yourself this--where do you think truth happens on a more regular basis--in small claims court (where people have to defend themselves) or in court where lawyers are involved?

I am not against lawyers. They know the constitution of the United States. We do need them. As a matter of fact, my thought is that regardless of whether you are innocent or guilty, always have a lawyer there to protect your constitutional rights.

I know, I know. People will say why do you need a lawyer if you have nothing to hide? What you have to hide (from) is the shady way law enforcement will try trickery on you to get a confession out of you.

Always refuse to answer questions without a lawyer being present. Don't back down from their questions they ask you if you should decide not to have a lawyer. Ask them questions as well. Have your own tape recorder.

If they decide they want to question you for untold hours, get a lawyer so that you will be protected by someone who knows your rights based upon the constitution.

Remember this, it has been proven that innocent people have made confessions just to get the police to stop questioning them.

I guess I should answer your question directly now. The answer is yes, you should be allowed to speak your mind. It's true that the establishment wants us to just follow their lead and go along with what they want, however; those who question leadership are exercising their constitutional rights. To be a patriotic american.

It is suppose to unless you are at a taxpayer funded rally of President Bush. Then you are not even allowed to attend if you have opposing viewpoints.
This country is suppose to be run by and for "We the People" not the special interest groups and corporations with the most money to donate. Unfortunately, the will of the people isn't always the biggest concern to our politicians its getting re-elected.
It is interesting to see the swing in some of the Republicans shift away from the surge that is going on right now. Is it because they were hammered at home by their constitutes or because the sitting President is a lame duck with horrible poll numbers?

You only have freedom of speech within the boundaries set by the Government. In other words say what you like as long as it is PC.

Apparently not these days. If you say something people don't like you become the subject of a witch hunt.
Having said that, each person ought to be able to judge whether they are stepping over the line. You are entitled to your opinion but if voicing it will be too hurtful to someone then it's common sense and civility to keep your mouth shut Ah, common sense...a rare quality in our wonderful new free society...

Freedom of speech skill not something to me the modification skill not something to me. I say what i want I do what i want (as long as its not bodily hurting everyone) and you be conscious of what i desire to declare now fùck all the vast institutions. there have been sturdy shops to get your opinion in the time of yet now they are runned by using the government with secret agendas.

The governments meaning of freedom of speech is, Yes you can say what you want but, if they don't like what you are saying you can be thrown in jail.

There is no such thing as freedom of speech.
