Bed and Breakfasts are always good. My husband and I stayed at the Houndstooth Inn at Yosemite for a full five days. It was wonderful. I can't wait to do it again. Very relaxing. We got a room with a huge jacuzzi tub and a fireplace. I personally think the way to go for anniversaries is to get away from the house, at least for the night. That way you're both free of cleaning the house or doing any sort of "work" at home that you would normally do that day/night.
And if you can't get away due to budget concerns, then I would consider transforming your own house a bit to set a mood. Maybe get some of those paper lanterns and string them up in the back yard (if you have one) and light a ton of candles in paper bags around the yard. Have the food (and alcohol) set out on a table. Have a portable stereo hidden somewhere in the yard with some great tunes playing.
Not sure if this is anyone else's idea of a good time, but it is for me :)

im not a married woman (not even a woman), but how long have you been married? I would take her to Cancun or some where in the Carribean and renew your wedding vows. spend that time letting her know that she is the most important thing in your life. put her on the pedistal that she deserves to be on. make it all about her.
face it, most of us men are stupid and take advantage of any good situation. and if your like most men you have done some incredibly block headed stuff and dont you ever wonder why she stays married to you. im not picking on you im just stating that you are probably normal just like the rest of us guys. you never know what you have till its gone. i applaud you for taking the bull by the horn and doing something great for your lady. good luck

Well, I suppose it depends on how much money you have. If no money or not much money...rose petals even if fake ones on the floors of your house...or where ever you live...cook dinner...candles...or barbeque...set up a nice table outside if you don't live in a snowey area, lol =)! Have a surprise party? Of course, save alot of time alone for after the party =). Take her for a walk on the beach...or out for a nice dinner...black tie dinner? Does she like to dress up? =) Take her to the salon to get her hair done first...=) Take her out for a new outfit...help her pick it out =). So many ideas...wish her happy anniversary on her favorite radio station =). Put it on a billboard near your house =).

put together a photo album of your life together.
make a CD with all your favorite love songs to her
arrange a day at your local spa for the two of you
relive your first date
marry her again
if you have children, make a home video IE:of her favorite TV show or a comedy skit or with all the people in her life sharing a memory of her and the things she does :be it funny or serious and don't forget to sing a song to her expressing your love at the end

rent out an entire movie theatre (not the building but just one of the theatres) and show your wedding video on the big screen.

how many years?
I would suggest a Caribbean or Mexican vacation!
Definitely give her a journey diamond, either the ring or the necklace!
