Well its Friday the 13th knowing my luck id pick the penny up and the ladder would drop on my head !!

Leave the penny for 2 reasons
1, the ladder might fall on my head
2, the original ryme was see a PIN not a pennytherefor the penny might not be lucks anyway

That actually happened to me...only thing is, I ended up losing the penny.
I picked up the penny, but when I turned around, I caught my reflection in a broken mirror. I was so startled that I tripped over a nearby black cat.
I dropped the penny, which rolled into the sewer. Fortunately, I didn't step on any cracks in the sidewalk, so Mom's back is fine.
