The ruler is essentially a straight line with or without measuring markings.

It is a measuring and line drawing device known since antiquity, which is a great pity because I would have been so happy if Euler invented the Ruler.

A dude called Anton Ullrich invented a folding ruler.

In 1851, Johannes Anton Ullrich invented the folding ruler, and in 1887 obtained the patent for the springed hinge of the folding ruler.

Probably the Architect of the Pyramids because the great Pyramid of Cheops was built using BOTH the Royal Cubit AND the Profane Cubit and it would have been necessary to have an exact way to measure the lengths of everything dealing with construction

BTW... the CUBIT is the ONLY unit of measurement that can be considered to be a REAL measurement because it is an exact length in the measurement of the circumference of the world. All other standards, foot, meter etc... are arbitrary.
