Yes I remember all the fuss. As I used to be out so much I didn't have a TV then, so I never saw the programme, or the event. I could not believe how it made the headlines and made BBC national news, as someone has already said you would have thought JR was a real person.
Ever since then it has become increasingly more common for TV characters to be mentioned in the press, especially when there is no new news to report. Bit of a sad world we live in if fictitious characters are as important as real people.

Yes, I remember that! Headlines in newspapers (well, the tabloid ones anyway) and reports on TV news, too. And quite a wait to find out who dunnit!

Yes. I actually disliked the show so much I almost hated it. I found something else to do Friday evenings at 9:00.

Yes I do and all the hype about who shot him I really thought it was Clayton Barnes but was shocked to find out that Kristen did it........I never expected that.......that was a turn I never forgot.
