Yes or No?

Everyone has the option to not read a post,if you dont like it, dont read it.

Or should our questions be dictated by one persons ideals

Or should a violation only be implemented when reported by a certain number of people.

Observing the answers on here, I can see that some members are rating "Thumbs down" even though they have taken no part in the answers.

Probably the same people who perpetually click on violation.

I agree totally....should have say five seperate violation requests before action is taken....I have had violations for nothing...and I mean nothing. It is a site for free speech...just seem to get violated for giving a strong opinion which the asker doesn't agree with...everyone should answer this question.

I know what you are saying and I agree with you. But I think there should be a better way of doing things. I mean sensible answers and questions get deleted and that shouldn't be, after all we are here to help each other out. The violation is there for people who are really been abusive but sadly they are abusing the whole system as well. I think stricter rules should apply. If the violation was remove completely then who are going to help the ones that are really been abused. The crime rate might rise sky high.

To me the problem lies in the fact that somebody just reporting a question for any reason, or for no reason ,
seems to bring you a violation. If you complain they e-mail you back saying they can`t enter into the details. What that translates to is that they don`t read the reports. So maybe a few people actually reading the answers board on behalf of YA would help.
So many receive violations for silly things, but at the end of the day all we can do is ignore the violations too. if I don`t like somebody`s question and telling them so brings me a violation then so be it.

I wouldn't remove it altogether, after-all Paedo sick scum and nasty little racist lowlifes could post what they like. They need to be controlled.
But what gets me is receiving a violation for totally inoffensive comments, not even a swear word.... I think that a lot of it is down to the Mccann situation. If you post negative comments about those two someone will troll around pushing the violation button whenever you post, and Whatever you post, even if it isn't Mccann related.
Freedom of speech ought to be preserved, at the moment that ideal has been seriously compromised, by a bunch of cowardly bullies using this site for their own agenda.
There is an appeals system, but it is totally ineffective, all i get is the stock reply, "We can not look at individual cases", Whats the point then?
There must be a better way?

They are going to have to do something because I am getting Violated to Suck right now. It is getting beyond a joke. Evry violation is challenged and I am sure Yahoo must be getting fed up with me complaining about the constant violating of my questions for no reason other than some hidden idiot has taken a grudge out against me.It really annoys me because they are able to remain hidden whilst they are actually damaging a system that Yahoo pput in place to bring more people into the Yahoo system.

Aye if something offends me, I ignore it. That's it. I noticed too that sometimes you get more boos than folk who have answered making me think there are just plain observers going round 'auditing' or something.
It should never, ever become personal though, that is when the argument is lost and folk end up being wally's.
people are entitled so say if something is offensive and I would not remove the function as you may have it turn into a complete circus. It is guidelines at the end of the day, and decent poster will usually stick to that. It is being abused just now, but so is every system made.
I really love this site and know you canny take any of it seriously in a negative way. I try and take only the good stuff to contemplate. I can also see how offensive it can be.

Perhaps they should continue with the thumbs down option along with the choice to report someone for a violation....but maybe introduce the naming of the person that opts to go with either, much the same as they do if you give a star to a question, you can click to see who starred a question.....so we should also be able to click & see who gave a thumbs down or reported a violation.......at least that way, it would prevent things getting totally out of hand but also control the thumbs down & violations given in "secret" by people just either time wasting or being vindictive.

None of that however takes into account that trolls probably have more than one account with Y/A in order to do the stupid thumbs down & reporting they do anyway......

Ohhhhhhh I just got a violation message ???? First time I have been told off and I don't even know what for ?? Ach well. All I did was answer a message ??? If that's not the idea here would someone tell me what is ? Where has freedom of speech gone and the right to debate. That's why I came here in the first place.

Sometimes the truthful answer isn't always what people want to see. So they just hit the abuse flag. There's a lot of questions asked just to get a bad answer so they can report people. I answered a childish question with "why" and got a violation notice. Evidently they have Ray Charles reviewing the report notices

No. I have reported people for serious problems. It is easy to safe "don't read it". But this is a public forum and people should respect others.
I once read a post before realising it was describing sex with a baby. I vomited and the picture stayed with me for a week.
I would report that person again.
Also, people use this forum and openly break the rules. Should inciting hatred be allowed? Children are on here, as are weak minded people.
But again, I received a violation for saying that pigeons make good pies. Apparently I hadn't answered the question which was: Are pigeons flying vermin or related to the eagle?
Was my joking comment to a joking question really worthy of a violation notice?
I woulnd't have thought so.
Still, rules are rules. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

No keep it Stephen, there are just too, too many perverted men & women out there. Too many. We do need a structure to maintain a civility here, and there is an opportunity to have a say because I have been sent a Violation notice more than once. Every time I've sent a reply to YA and expained my answer that was found offensive and could they please point out where I have cursed, threatened, reviled, or used hate literature, or racist remarks, or insulting words, or lies, or have used sexually abusive language, or have degraded women, or have used pornography, or anything like that? If you can find it I tell YA; then I will accept the loss of points. If you can't? Then give me back my points will ya! And put my answer back where it belongs.
Every time YA has granted my request. You too can do this, as can anyone.
I don't think we should remove the violation function, it works well for me. I don't abuse the postings so I find that they work for me as well as for others who do not abuse the postings.
