Ok, I celebrate Oktoberfest, a German holiday, and everytime I fly to Germany to celebrate it, people think I'm crazy to fly to Germany to celebrate a holiday. Am I crazy?

Some people prefer the real experience of the German Oktober Fest than the lame American versions and the idiots who attend them that have no clue what the holiday is about. Believe it or not, its not about drinking!

If you think you are crazy to fly to Germany then you probably are. Why not try celebrating Oktoberfest somewhere other than Germany? Just find a town close to you that has a significant German population--some military bases. Fredericksburg and New Braunfels in Texas are two specific places I believe to have large German populations. Just do an Internet search.

If you can afford to go every Oktoberfest then I don't see the problem. People go to Jerusalem to celebrate Christmas so what is the difference?

Stupid? Crazy? Not at all. When I was a student in Munich, a long, long time ago, the Oktoberfest was the high point of each year. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Viel Glück!

Dude thats hardcore. Personally I like to fly from the US to Africa to enjoy Arbor Day.
JKJK Oktoberfest is one of my favorite holidays.

If it's special to you, then it should be special enough to not care if people say it's stupid or people don't like it. What you like may be different than somebody else.. but i bet they have something that's weird too! I don't think it's weird i think it's cool you do stuff like that! Be proud and be weird! (not that you are weird but just be proud if you are.. k? =) )
There's a holiday where it's National Pirate Day!

no holiday or feast is stupid to celebrate if you like it and it fits with your belief system.
dont expect anyone who does not share those likes and beliefs to understand, but then again, you don't owe them an explanation. you dont mock them for going to hawaii on vacation.
