I often find it is easier to reconstruct based on stable
foundation than to spend significant effort trying to
remember something which is forgotten. Will the
construction be equivalent to the memory? Probably
not in all facets, but considering that the construction
is built on solid foundation that doesn't make the
construction of the new memory less authentic.

Ask someone else about what I forgot! XD Just kidding.
Scratch away at the back of my mind and try and think of anything related to it. Like if I forget the couplet of a song I wrote, I'd say the first line, and think of what would rhyme with it. Then I'd probably figure out what the second line was :D

curse my memory a bit, try to remember for a while longer, and if that fails, leave it be and move on.

Try to forget that I was trying to remember! Usually without much success.

I keep thinking - or if pertaining to a song, I'll try to go through the alphabet

I rest my mind and try to remember it later.
