Actually, you can "cloud their title" and delay the sale of the home by filing a "Notice of Interest in the Property" (or some similar form of notice) with the county. In some states this will work, others will not permit it.
HOWEVER, you better be prepared to provide documentation of the debt otherwise you open yourself up to a suit and a potential fraud action. This is not a tactic that you should just charge into. Consult a Real Estate attorney to determine if such an action is accepted in the county the property is located in.

You can't file a Notice of Interest unless the debt is associated with the house. This is usually for spouses, not just anyone. If you already won a lawsuit and are waiting to collect judgement this would also apply to you, but not until after you won the judgement.
You can't prevent them from leaving the country, and their leaving does not negate their bills.

You can't block the sale, but you may be able to get a court judgement so that you can file a lien against the house. That way, when the house sells, you can collect the money.

No. In fact they don't ever have to pay you back unless there is a legal document saying they agreed to pay you back.
