Rashtrapati is a hindi word that means President in English. It means the same thing. If you are an Indian then its like asking that can sky in english be called Akash in hindi??

No she should be called Rashtramohodya if not Rashtrapati & least as some person here in yahoo answers pointed out few days back & his awswer was chosen as the best answer by voting as 'Rashtrapatni'.

Let there be no fight in the name of gender and hair splitting arguments on grammar.
If the one who has translated first ,the word President as Rashtrapathi, with out imagining that one day a lady may also occupy that post, it need not worry us.Let the word be converted as a common gender word from masculine.

ya sure why not? it is just a designation given to a human who is elected to whom we call in eng PRESIDENT.as in the olden times men were considered in almost matters of politics so it was named as RASTRAPATI.....it is the honour of the human who deserves it bcoz he is considered the most imp person of the country..........

ok if india is democratic....but if india had a presidential goverment as if in case of america she is considered as the most powerful human in the country...no matters it is a man or a woman.......its the honour the word brings it with himself.....
