A gas supply company in North Shields have shown callousness beyond the usual nastiness. The house of a 65yr old man blew up in a gas explosion and killed his long term partner and now the gas company have sent him a bill for the gas.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you agree, a step too far.?

I'm probably going to get shot to peices here but if the explosion was caused by the man then i think they are right to charge him for the damage.
If the company found to be at fault (due to a bad installation) then not only should they pay compensation, they should also be charged with manslaughter.

Well they are allowed to ask for what gas had been used up untill the explosion.
The gas company are not liable for the actions of its customers.
I can tell you what I think happend, the old boys misses, suffering from a bit of dementia like, put gas on, forgot where matches were, went off to find them without "TURNING" the gas off, returned after finding said matches and continued to blow her *** up...

yes the gas company should still get paid due to the fact the old lady probably left the gas on. Nah im messing, no thats sad she just died. but if you gotta go go out with bang! lol nah just messing.
