For a twenty-two year old male.

I've just always been ambitious but never charismatic. I don't have any friends and most the time I close myself from the outside world because I don't believe anyone understands me. Even when I do have a friend it is only for a short time and I've never had a girlfriend on an emotional level. I've had sexual relationships but that is all it was. Is something wrong with me?

There is no such thing as "normal."

It's perfectly normal. By your own admission, you're driven by ambition and purpose in life so sexual relaionships automatically take a backseat. I'm much like you but I do indulge in a lot of masturbation and try to have sex occasionally and yes, too many insincere people p*ss you off and it's great thing if you prefer the select company of those close around you.

Well, you seem to be pretty much aware of what you lack, and there doesn't seem to be any impairment on the way you interact with others due to maladaptive way of thinking, feeling and perceiving, so you're just fine...

It may just be the way you are... or it may be caused by certain experiences during previous years... I may sound stupid to say this, but the best way to find interest in something is to engage in it... behaviors can change attitudes (by cognitive dissonance and such)...

It's just my opinion, but I hope you were helped.

im twenty and i am like you, i had one long term relationship in high school but after we broke up i never really wanted to get involved in another relationship as of yet. i think it is somewhat normal to feel this way. i think eventually i will want to date a girl again seriously, but im just taking this time in my life to worry about me and my situation. the best advice i can give you is to really become the person that YOU want yourself to be and once you do that relationships will just come natural to you.

There are some asexual people, who are interested sexually in themselves. It's kinda weird that you don't want any type of human socialization, but there are other people like that.
