I met my dearly boyfriend this June, we really hit it off and both wished a happy ending. However, he just filed a no-fault divorce and is sorting things out.
is that one year I have to wait till to marry him?
Can we engage within this one year?

to ideally_rationally: you might be right, one month is short for eternity, but pls allow people who consider rationally AND ideally when they are so in love.

You can marry him when his divorce is complete, however long that takes depends on how quickly your courts take, I did my own divorce and it took 6 months from start to finish. Once he has his decree absolute then he is free to marry again, and not a moment before. That will give you 6 months at least to get to know him better, you might not even like him then, you've only known him 1 month.

Remarrying after divorce depends on the state that you live it. In Oklahoma you must wait six months, in Arkansas there is no waiting period. Emotionally, don't rush into anything. After divorce, I rushed into a relationship with a great guy. Then I realized that I needed my own time, time to heal, time understand what went wrong the first time, time to experience life as a single again. I think if your boyfriend doesn't get that time, it will end in divorce again.
