It was raining so hard we didnt see how bad the road was tell it was to late.... The card just shut right off. Now once we got out and pushed it out of the water we noticed the oil was leaking. The water wasnt even up to the doors. 1997 Olds Aurora! I was told to let it dry out afew days and change the oil b4 trying to start it again.. IS THAT bULL?

Yes. Normally a car stops running because the electricals get wet if the water is not high enough to get in the oil vents, but if a car is standing in water, it may cool down enough to suck in water. When you take out the old oil look at it closely and see if it has white stuff or just shows water.
If the engine is immersed while running, then it may have water in the cylinders, in which case parts may have cracked hitting the water. Step one is to remove the spark plugs and crank the engine to see if it turns and if water is pumped out the holes. If it doesn't turn or water comes out it is serious mechanic time.

I would also recommend you check out your air filter and spark plugs for water damage, these tend to stop a car in its tracks. it doesn't hurt to change your oil or oil filter for that matter. but I can't see that being the problem.

do that it will definatly have water in the oil maby in the trans fluid too
