I was very confused, any help is appreciated!

Every day the Moon raises about an hour later, so it is travelling west to east albeit very slowly, it takes about 28 days to do a full rotation. You see it rise in the east and set in the west every day, that is because the Earth is moving, if the Earth was still, you would see that slowly but surely, the moon goes from wet to east.

It orbits from east to west, just as the sun does :-)

If you are standing over the north pole, the rotation is anti-clockwise.
