Straight up, what is the difference between someone who has an incestuous affair with a sibling or parent, and people who are bisexual, homosexual, or lesbian, since they all have something in common they can't help who they are attracted to and they can't help who they fall in love with? Birth defects is not an answer, considering some places allow this kind of conduct as long as the incestuous parties consent to becoming sterile. Honest question, Please only respond with legitimate answers. It is not my intention to bash anyone, it is my intention to know if people think there is a difference.

Amber I compare them because I am having dificulty seeing a difference between the two. It is a morality issue. I appreciate that you have answered this question honestly. And I will give you a thumbs up for that reason. You are trying to be as direct and to the point as you can. ty

It's hard to explain and I just know that you're gonna purposefully ignore the obvious differences.

Sexual orientation has nothing to do with who you fall for except by defining what gender you find attractive. In the case of heterosexuals you only find the opposite sex sexually attractive, in homosexuality it's the same sex, in bisexuality it's both.

You cannot change what gender you are attracted to any more than you can change your eye colour or hair colour - that is, you can cover it up but it'll still be the same underneath.

Incest, however, IS a question of morality. Unless you are ONLY attracted to family members, in which case I'd suggest seeing a psychiatrist, there are more people in world to "choose" from than your family.

While technically there is nothing wrong with it except when attempting to breed, incest is not publicly accepted and probably never will be. Mostly for the fact that the majority of the world find the idea of doing anything sexual with a family member, even distant family, quite disturbing.

I suppose you could go as far as saying that they are both practices that can be harmless but are problems in the eye of the public, the main difference being that mere homosexuality still puts you with a partner outside of your immediate family and as such is publicly acceptable.

I think my answer was very awkward - Da Ben Dan managed to sum it up pretty well though.

People are born gay, no one is born wanting to have incestuous affairs, in fact it's in our biology to NOT be attracted to relatives. Incestuous affairs can cause all types of family drama, and most of time someone is being taken advantage of...ie there's a victim. Homosexuality is natural, and theirs nothing wrong with two consenting adults having a relationship. Inter-family relationships can cause birth defects and stuff if children are produced, there's just no good reason for that to happen. If you can't see the difference then I don't know what else to tell you.

Attraction is like any other emotion - we can control it. For instance most people would never dream of having sexual feelings toward a minor. If they did any decent person would completely dismiss it from their mind. Rage is a very strong emotion but we control that otherwise we would punch somebody's head in at times. Coveting or wanting something that doesn't belong to you needs self control otherwise we may steal. So whether we are homosexual, hetrosexual, attracted to this one of that one we must have moral standards to direct our emotions. These standards are different in different cultures but God has universal standards that tell us what is right and wrong. If the whole world lived by these wouldn't it be a far better place! So yes you are right in that you say birth defects is not the answer it is that it is immoral by God's standards. Leviticus 18:6 "you people must not come near, any man of you, to any close fleshly relative of his to lay bare nakedness. (meaning have sex with) I am Jehovah."

Yes there is a difference. The difference between bisexuals and homosexuals compared to inter family relationships is that key word.... family. When someone who is gay meets someone they are attracted to they are attracted to them in the same way a straight person is. When you are attracted to someone in your family as an uncle or sister there is already a formed relationship that was not started on a sexual basis. I am trying to answer this to the best of my ability but honestly I think it is odd that you would even compare a homosexual relationship to a incestuous one.

An interesting question. I suggest you read up on the concept of endogamy- it might help explain the difference.

People are born gay or straight (or bi). Within the framework of being gay I can still follow the biological imperatives that we do not engage in incest (recessive genes, etc). I believe that this is a choice...being glbt is not a choice.
