If you mean key as the most important player, than it's a draw between Chauncey Billups and Rashard Lewis who could both change an entire franchise just by signing with a team. If you're talking about the guys who are still available, then it would probably be Gerald Wallace or Maurice Williams. Because Billups and Lewis look like they're already set with their teams. Wallace and Williams are still on the market and are both equally key in helping to improve a few teams.

The "big" names like Carter, Billups, Lewis and some role players Kapono, Walton have already had verbal agreements. I think right now its most likely Gerald Wallace and Mo Williams are the main free agents for now. Both are looking for at least 9 million a year but no teams have enough cap space. I see Wallace, and Williams possibly being a sign-and-trade somewhere in the East. I think if Portland buys out the remaining two years of Francis's contract I think he'll be the biggest free agent remaining.

Rashard Lewis, and howdumb it was for them to sign him to a max deal. I never understood why, in a weak free agent pool, you would give a player more money that if he had been a free agent in a different offseason. The Magic will be kicking themselves when next summer Kevin Garnett, Gilbert Arenas, Allen Iverson, and many, many more star players all are at the end of their contracts. Lewis may score 20 points per game, but he does nothing else particularly well, and will get paid the same amount as the players I already mentioned. Would you trade Rashard Lewis for KG, Agent Zero, or AI? Of course you would. The Magic just effectively did that, except they are the team stuck with Lewis. Orlando could have landed one of these players, as the western stars continue to migrate to the east after seeing LeBron take the Cavs to the finals all by himself. With Dwight Howard already there, Orlando is an attractive option.

Beyond that, he does not serve an obvious new purpose on Orlando's team. He has a style identical to Hedo Turkoglu, meaning one will have to either play out of character and ultimately fail, or Turkoglu will be traded. Even if they manage to figure it out and it is a non-issue, they also gave up Darko Milicic, who has the talent but not the drive to flourish. Maybe showing some faith in him and not dumping him off for a B-level star would have been the inspiration he needed to live up to his high potential.

So you have to ask yourself, is Rashard Lewis worth the same amount as one of next offseason's superstars, such as Kevin Garnett, Hedo Turkoglu's productivity, and Darko Milicic? Uh, of course not.

Well with Rashard Lewis pretty much going to Orlando, and Carter/Billups resigning, I would say Gerald Wallace and Mo Williams.

Orlando's acquisition Rashard Lewis. The tremendous potential, nobody can argue.

I think Gerald Wallace but there's hardly any team's with cap space anymore so I don't know where he'll end up.
