I am working in IT sector for the last 6 yrs. I have done my Bachelors in Engineering. I want to do my Masters now while working. I am kind of confused as i am not sure what i want to pursue? i am already doing a bit of people management and also handling a big chunk of technical work.

I have no interest in doing MBA in Finance/Sales, but i want to know if doing other MBA programs which are aimed for developing managers in software field is going to be of any help to grow in the organization, specifically to manage existing projects and get new ones?

I can see the benefit of doing a MS as it is going to make me more technically strong, which in turn will let me handle existing projects and get new ones!!!

It depends on your interests and your company's plans for you.

In general, if you have a technical background your company may pay for additional technical training that is not associated with a degree. That means that you can get technically stronger without the MS degree.

They are less likely to give you non-technical training. If you are interested in expanding your opportunities outside of the technical field then the MBA is your best bet.

Talk to your manager [or higher ups] about what they have in store for you. Talk to HR to see what career tracks are available in your company with an MBA.

Then take the road that interests you.

Personally, I'd go for the MBA in management and take a couple of technical courses as electives or as part of your company training.

Not a lot of a change relatively, whilst the smoke clears you can discover that in spite of everything the pre - reqs, they're very identical. Neither presents any special expertise over the opposite primarily whilst making use of for a function. I must realize, I used to be a CFO for a instead giant enterprise and by no means nit - picked over MS vs. MBA. All I cared approximately used to be that you simply had been victorious in completeing a graduate software, that tells me ample.
