I have a similar issue. I had a girlfriend for 1 1/2 years way back in HS. I have all the letters she wrote to me and some pictures in a box. I am afraid that my wife would be upset if she were to find them and know that I have kept them. I find it difficult to get rid of things like that...it was an important part of my life in a very interesting time. I have no intentions of ever contacting this girl and I have not even stayed in contact at all. There is no reason after almost 9 years of marriage and two children for her to be upset by some memorabilia, but I think she would be. I think your boyfriend is overreacting...unless there is some kind of relationship with this last boyfriend. I think he should be understanding about the fact that this was an important time in your life and be more secure in your feelings for him and in himself. Explain to him how you feel about the pictures and if he is not understanding, then maybe you should consider this as an indicator that he is not the person you want to be with. Good luck!!

Don't you EVER let him talk you into throwing those pictures away. I had a boyfriend when I was 18 who grabbed my shoe box filled with love notes and letters and all that I had from elementary and high school and set them on fire. You will get my age then wish you still had them. Tell him to grow up! If he's acting like that, your relationship will bring you nothing but misery! Tell him he's being a baby and if he doesn't knock it off, you're going to break up with him! You DO NOT need this chit! It will only get worse the longer you're with him! I oughta know! I'm 49 so I've been through what you're talking about a number of times!

If he's just a boyfriend then he had absolutely no right to make you do anything about those pics.
He has the right to be upset but- ask him if he'd want you to chuck pics of you and him later when he is history.
Sounds like you are more casual than he is- perhaps it wasn't meant to be?

he has no right to get mad at you just because you still keep old pics of your ex-boyfriends and boy friends. give him some time to cool off first. if he doesnt want to, he's being a jerk.

Tell him you get to look at all his pictures and throw out all the ones you don't like.

They are part of who you are and where you have been. I don't suggest you take them out and flaunt them at him or keep framed photo's of past lovers on your desk, but they are yours to keep as momento's of your life.
