Even in today's inflated economic world, 12 billion a month ain't exactly chump change...particularly when it's almost all borrowed moola. Could we have dealt with our Muslim problem cheaper and with better results?

Cheaper would mean blowing all the Muslim countries up that want to kill everything non Muslim! That would be a good thing end the terror for good!

Heck no!

And now the US is using the Iraqi people as a scapegoat because they are now saying they have failed to meet any benchmarks.

Bull! The US isn't meeting any requirements either because they are losing the war, so go and pass the blame.

The US should have stayed the hell out of there to begin with.

Saddam kept that place under order and was not a threat to us!

Ariel - you have missed the point. Our taxes are not coming close to covering the spending of this government (that is what deficit means - I know a lot of people forgot what a deficit was while Clinton was running the show but they are back now). Hence our taxes are not paying for this war - borrowed money is. Money that our children will have to pay back.

No, of course not. An appalling waste of borrowed money, and far worse, an appalling waste of human lives. Osama bin Laden must have rubbed his handa in glee when George marched in to 'liberate ' Iraq - the terror threat is now worse than ever and Cheney's hopes of controlling Iraq's oil for his oil industry patrons are as remote as ever.

No. The Iraqi people do not deserve one more dime spent on them especially after their government failed to meet any of the benchmarks set out.

Honestly, I wonder if we could have bought off Hussein for the money we spent on the Iraq war.
