I don't think we'll have a "happy" ending, but it will definately end in our lifetime.

Which war?
The war on poverty, the war on drugs, & the war on terrorism are all wars without end.
If you mean the War in Iraq, it'll end the next president, regardless of which party is elected.
I never had hope for a happy ending, at this point the only prediction I made before the war that hasn't come true is the invasion of Kurdistan by the Turks.

If you mean the war in Iraq, I think it will drag on forever, like Vietnam did. If we insist on staying, we'll be trapped in the crossfire from the smoldering hatred of the holy factions. The country needs another strong dictator to hold it together and still the fighting will not stop. I don't know what your lifetime will be, but mine is closer to the end than the beginning, and I don't think it will be over in my lifetime. As for "happy endings", that only happens in movies and fairy tales.

I have always hoped to see the end, and now more then ever. i have a son and I hope in 16 years this is not still going on. i would hate for him to have to see the things i saw, but when he comes of age, that will be his choice and i won't stop him. I only hope he returns safely.

Wars are unavoidable. No war has had a happy ending. Who knows how long this war is going to go one. Hell it could go one for the next 100 years

Great question....because it has gone from "should we be there" to "will it ever end." That really is the question we should all be asking. No, It won't end in my lifetime and it won't end on good terms but will simmer for another thousand years. I NEVER believed we should be there in the first place.
Please answer my last two questions...seems everyone has gone to bed or this site is running too slow tonight.

Im really hoping it ends soon. I understand why we arent pulling out but it sucks for familys and such here. I mean it sucks that people have to hate us for being free. Its a great kind of life to live...and it hurts that our husbands and fathers and brothers have to fight for it...why cant they just accept it. in all the thousands of years, we havent stopped being free so what makes them think they can stop it. I hope it ends.

Yes.It's straight out of 1984. Constant war to keep the population subservient to the government with ever tighter restrictions on their freedom. There always has to be an enemy.
