My boyfriend will be staying at my apartment for the summer while he is back from school and he needs a copy of the house key.

Just wondering- how do people that have keys made, that say on them "do not duplicate", get copies of their keys??? Couldn't I just say that I own these keys?

I already asked the apt. manager and she said no. She said he needs to be on the lease, and that is not an option for us right now. It is just going to be really difficult for us to share keys when we both have busy schedules. I am sure someone has gotten a key copied somewhere that says this on it...just wondering if I could get some advice or something...thanks

If these keys are from a home that you own personally, there should be no reason that they keys have do not duplicate on them. If they state don't duplicate on them, then they are not supposed to be duplicated. Anyone could walk into a key copying place and state they own these keys. However, there are many places that do not even pay attention when you bring your keys in to get copies made. Small hardware stores, drug stores, home depot, etc... usually have younger people working there who often don't even pay attention and they will make copies of these keys for you, even though they are not supposed to be duplicated.
Also, if you own the home and all of your keys state do not duplicate, you may want to simply switch your locks and get new keys. This can be done yourself quite simply and pretty cheap.

Just go to the hardware store or local home improvement store and most don't even look at it. The worst they could do is say no. Someone will copy it for you if you try enough places.

It's like the speed limit. Sure it says 55 but look around and see how many people are driving 55. Not a well respected law.

Your landlord can get him a set, they don't want you handing out keys so write do not duplicate on them, otherwise they would have no control when you move out and they use that lock on another apartment.

Friendship, no that is not undesirable....my contacts in basic terms this week helped me turn my head faraway from the darkness and in the direction of the gentle....that is not delusional in any respect, yet a certainty.
