I am a french immigrant and am tired of all the disrespect my home country receives.

Many claim that the french are cowards. Well did you know that if it weren't for the french resistance your invasion of normandy would have failed America??

Are you americans mad at us french because we did not join you in your wonderfully executed war in iraq?? *rolls eyes*

France is an amazing place where -

people work 35 hour weeks and have two months paid leave a year.

Is the world's 4th largest economy.

Is a country with strong cultural and traditional values.

Is a county with arguably the best food and drink in the world.

Provence

A country with second-to-none public systems - TGV (train), education, healthcare.

A country that smokes and drinks more wine than Britain and America and has a fraction of the heart disease and obesity rate.

A country full of charming, well-dressed people who do respond well when not approached by tactless English-speaking philistines

A country full of beautiful architecture and art.

A country full of people who happen to love POLITE americans who at least attempt to speak french like I attempt to speak english.

Most french love the american people, but not the american goberment - most fgrench are very good people - please believe me!

Many say that french eat frog legs, etc - I actually tried frog once. It was quite good. I totally understand if you americans prefer your mcdonalds wich has made you the worlds fattest nation.

Bravo America!! Why not go stuff your face with freedom fries while waving an american fglag claiming to support the troops, yet not willing to fight in iraq!!

Unfortunately, most Americans know little about France or any other country. The general attitude is that other people need to learn about America and speak English, we don't need to know about them. It's silly and foolish. You're absolutely right. France is a great country with a noble history and many great accomplishments. Keep talking to Americans and you'll find some who know that.

It Is because Americans judge people based on ushually the first facts they see. But I beleive yhe french people being cowards comes from ww2 when the frwnch surrenderednyo the germans. For some reason Americans beleive this is because the French are cowards who don't want to fight. But, they surrendered because they were extremmly overpowered by the German forces and not able to fight back very well... So instead of fighting back they did the smart thing and they surrendered an saved tons of peoples lives. I think that Americans would do the same thing in this position, and I think it will come very soon as some countries are catching up to America and will soon pass them but ring ad arrogant as they are they don't see this. And I am Canadian and I haven't heard a French joke from a fellow Canadian but have heard them tons of times by Americans on the Internet

Actually, I don't hate anybody.

I have had friends who were French, and spent some time in the French-speaking part of Belgium some years ago. I agree that French-cultured people are charming and nice people.

Sadly, my visit didn't allow time for a visit to France. (Or Germany, which is one of the countries where my ancestors came from.)

It sounds a little like you might be the one with the problem.

And this sort of comment won't help improve relations between Americans and French.

I could throw out some accusations of my own, but that wouldn't in any way be constructive and you probably weren't involved anyway. So what's the point?

I am french Canadian, and as far as I know China has become the 4th largest economy in the world last January!!
As for the rest, I don`t really like the french as they exchange my province (Quebec, and my country by the same token) with Haiti... A Banana republic!!! Yeah right, French have never got a national hero since asterix and Obelix!! Napoleon was Italian, and most of their kings were schizophreniac!!
Anyways, I feel well place to sink the french because Je parle francais!!! And I don`t really enjoy women that don`t shave and never wash (or so little), having a noisy accent... Anyways, we are almost the same excepted we are not on the same continent!!
Also I forget, french Canadian girls think that frenchies are girly, and can`t just stand them, excepted for cultural curiosity!!
Still my friends and my sister enjoy visiting France, but to live there...

The Repubs do - remember, the French were very instrumental in the Revolutionary War helping the 'Americans'.

Why do you think The Big Easy has a large French-speaking population, what's left of it ??

We don't all hate the french. Some of us have actually studied our history and know we wouldn't even be a country without the support of the French against the British.

I love France. My father is from France and I have been there many times. I have traveled all over France and have been to Euro Disney. I loved every bit of it. I still have family living in Nantes. I tried learning french but it was difficult. I think Europeans are very interesting people. Welcome to the USA!!

Too bad the military is horrid. As far as Iraq goes French support or not was as meaningless as their opinion our own political leaders did a fine enough job of screwing that up. When was the last time USA broke out in nearly nation wide riots like occured in France. Public systems I will give you that point we really are behind there. Obesity rate i will give you that as well. The last statement is open to debate.

I don't hate the French. But I would like to point out that the rude attitude that comes across in your many criticisms of us "English-speaking philistines" doesn;t really engender a lot of love, if you know what I mean.

Peace out!

you guys are awesome! i love the french because you guys have such rich culture and an amazing sense of charity. you take care of each other, instead of leaving your fellow countrymen to rot away because they can't pay their hospital bills.

i really look up to the way you've integrated socialism into a capitalistic democracy. we could learn so much from you, if we got monkeyface out of office... ;) i love my country with all my heart, but we could take a cue from you. good for you for standing up for your rights as a country and for making sure that no one is left behind!
