I stained a floor over the weekend and it is taking a long time to dry, and needs a 2cd coat. Recommendations?

Overall, the work that I did on the woodworking is perfectly even and though I did do it myself, I do not see myself tackling the floors. Please recommend anything that you feel will be helpful, including reputable companies? The floors are large and I want them to look stunning. Thanks

i'm wondering if you sanded the floors? just wondering? if you did and the floors are still wet then the humidity is to high for it to dry proper. for any stain or polurthane to dry proper humidityu should be around 50% to 65% in the house. stain should dry in about two days, doesn't make anydifference how thick it is. sometimes the first coat of oil base polyurthane will do the same. sounds to me like if you've stained the floors, once they dry you should be able to apply the polyurthane coats to. if the humidity is to high and you have an A/C then turn it down to about 70 degrees if not then just leave windows cracked and put fans in the doorway to circulate the air.

The floors may be taking a long time to dry because of the present humidity in the weather. Put a couple of fans in the room. It will help speed things up.

Was this floor previously stained/finished? if so you can not stain over it unless the previously sealer was stripped from it....not just sanded but stripped...if this is the case, you have simply laid one product over a sealed floor and the stain is refusing to soak into the grain to dry....

need to know the city to make suggestions for contractors. you can put a box fan in the doorway blowing out of the room pulling the air in the rool stained out.
